May Music Notes

It's an early morning with last minute preparations for my trip to South Dakota, Colorado and the InspireSong Songwriter Conference in Aspen.  Squeee!!!  I'm excited!   It's going to be a great time visiting friends, enjoying fellowship, being a servant, learning and hanging around other Creatives!  It's always good to get new inspiration!

PERSONALLY:
The last month or so I've had a little bit of a health scare but that issue is fine, however when I get back from my trip there's still something I want to check into.  Please keep me in prayer for health related issues.

We are pretty much done with remodeling our kitchen!  So thankful to have counters back and a kitchen I can use.  Taco Bell got old quick!  The kitchen looks fabulous!  There's still some minor things we need to do, but that won't take long.  Hopefully....  you know how it can go with an older house and things you discover as you remodel!

Last weekend (May 4-8) we were in Bixby, Oklahoma for the Bixby BBQ n Blues Festival and KC BBQ Association Cookoff.  Hubby Warren had entered the contest and was in his element preparing his meats for the judges and for People's Choice.  We had our good friends Michael and Cat Jones helping us in the booth with their kids, Mike and Hannah!  I know all four had such a blast, it was wonderful to see our friends enjoy themselves ....and the food!    We had a couple band teens help us in the tent during the People's Choice time to hand out food, while Warren and I were concentrating on his competition meats and presentation.  
He got super excited when they announced that he placed 5th in the Chicken Category with his 'Lollipop Chicken Legs' out of 67 Competitors.

MUSIC:
May and June were to be the months to begin an exciting tour after the InspireSong Songwriter Conference in Aspen, hitting the road with the band 'Renewed' and Singer/Songwriter & Recording Artist 'Brendan Brooks'. 
However we all are quite disappointed in some of the cancellations received for this tour due to issues within the churches (which I will not get into).  So I think we need to pray for the body of Christ as a whole, that our focus would remain on Christ, the gospel and the Kingdom of God.

The only date remaining will be May 17th in Lakewood, Colorado where we will be doing a benefit concert together before heading to InspireSong on May 18th - May 21. 
The tour has been postponed into August/September and my dates in Clovis, NM also are on hold until that timeframe. 

I guess I can look at it in a positive way....at least I'll be able to help Warren with all his BBQ events he will be doing this summer, which I'm sure he's thankful for although he was supportive of me touring.  Even though I'm disappointed because of the postponement, I also know and realize that timing is everything and God has good reasons for the delay and I'm going with that and have peace about it.  
In the meanwhile I'll be looking at doing more local dates and going back to Eau Claire, WI as I know one place, the Barnabas Coffee House, is waiting to hear from me to come back for a music evening with them.
