Wow, has the world changed since my last Music Notes (March)!!!
After the "Pot-O-Gold" event in Chicago, everything shut down and Toilet Paper was nowhere to be found 🙄.
All my upcoming shows were cancelled - bam - just like that, life changed! 😳
It is certainly been a time to be grateful for what we had, what we still have and what we still can do. Life changes in a moment, but God never does and THAT my friends is the anchor I hold on to!
I'm grateful that as far as working from home, not much has changed for me, but for a lot of you - work life has become different, for others of you more stressful, for some of you (especially medical and grocery) more dangerous as you are around either sick people or around people all day long.
Honestly, I don't want to dwell on the current situation too much....I'm sure many of you feel sick and tired of hearing the name in the news and the ads and the announcements in stores. Many of you believers have been praying and standing on Psalm 91... if you have not read that one lately, do so. It will encourage you. I've added Psalm 119 to my reading list and began posting a portion of that Psalm each day on my Music Facebook Page. So grateful for the Word of God!
So there will be no UPCOMING EVENTS listed this month. I'm considering some "live" music online via my Facebook page.... but I'll let you know when that happens.
Since everything is shut down, my jewelry business went from doing well to "zero" and that's been sad 😥. I've met so many cool new folks at the shows and SO enjoyed my customers, fans & friends I got to see at each of the shows. I miss the conversations, helping people pick that perfect piece, share some love, give encouragement or share God's love. THAT part has been very difficult.
So.....this forced me to go online and restart my Etsy shop again and if you are reading this on a laptop, or computer screen, there's a picture on the right "I'm on ETSY". If you click that it'll take you to my store. I've been doing daily store updates and there are over 100 items listed now 😮! (I know, right?....for months it was only 5 bracelets 🤪🤪🤪)
If you are on a phone, that link is probably on the very bottom..... so please take a look and if you have any questions or want something in a specific color, just reach out to me via the store.
ON THE HOMEFRONT:
Warren has been laid off from school bus driving since school is no longer in session, however we are grateful that he will get paid until the end of this school year. What happens once fall rolls around remains yet to be seen with all this uncertainty.... Let's pray all will be back to 'normal'. He is really disappointed too that there are no ball games he can umpire. He has truly enjoyed that and the kids and parents. Summer will definitely look different for us this year as there aren't as many BBQs either.
But on the bright side... it's gonna get WARMER in Minnesota and the sun will hopefully shine more and we can be out in the yard - which needs a LOT of attention 😃!! Warren can also enjoy is kayak and fishing more.
I have been staying SO busy at home, I can't believe it. I'm re-organizing my jewelry studio and I've discovered a lot of cool stuff I had ordered and totally forgotten about. Soon I'll be making more new things. I have to admit, this present situation took the wind out of me and I just haven't had the motivation to create more jewelry at the moment. There were just some things that needed to be cleaned out, cleaned up and one of those places was the BASEMENT! Gah.....why does all.the.stuff. collect in the basement??? Does that happen to you guys too? Today I poured leftover paint out of the starting-to-get-rusty metal cans into plastic paint containers I got at Menards on Thursday..... Now if I need to fix a nick on a wall, I can actually open the paint container! aaaanddd, ALL the paint fit on ONE shelf! LOL. There were a lot of empty cans down there. Now why? Really...why? Empty cans? Seriously. Y'all, that's why I needed this time to really sort through stuff.
Have you guys seen all those ridiculously funny memes and gifs on Facebook lately? Some of them have me just rolling!
Y'all, keep your humor, laugh with your family, play with your kids, find fun things to do, keep your mind on the bright side, stay healthy, spend wisely, trust God and keep the faith.
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8.
🌺Warm Spring Greetings everyone! 🌷
In Minnesota we have Spring Break, hubby is "out of school" from bus driving this week ....and our plans were changed. We are not going to see his family in Oklahoma as we had hoped. Instead he will be having surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) and we would appreciate your prayers. Nothing serious, just something that needs to be done.
Otherwise I'm gearing up for my NotesNBling Spring shows, with the first one being this weekend (March 7th) at the Sartell Community Center. I've gotten a lot of new beads and leather in, so I'm excited to work on my spring and summer designs.
Music wise, we have been playing at our church for a series of evening services, singing with worship leader Aaron Sutton and that's been a learning curve for me, but a lot of fun! Currently music plans are to stay fairly local (that would include Wisconsin, that's local enough, haha) since I have so many jewelry shows coming up in March and April. Hoping to look into the south for a couple music dates around June, but we will have to see how things develop. God directs the steps and opens the doors! We go where they open.
Well, on to the upcoming events so you guys know where to find me!
Date: Saturday, March 7 (NotesNBling)
Event: Sartell Business Showcase
Place: Sartell Community Center
850 19th Street S.

I'll be set up at this event with my jewelry (NotesNBling) and hubby Warren will also have his BBQ Sauce table there as well. Our Sartell Winter Farmers Market is part of this event and there will be additional vendors, crafters and businesses showcasing their wares or information. We enjoyed it last year, so come check it out and see us!

Event: Pot-O-Gold Craft & Vendor Fair
Place: Smith's Central Garage

I'm excited to be part of this event, because my daughter Cindy and her friends Sammi and Sue are organizing craft and vendor shows and this will be their first adventure! Of course I'll support that and hopefully gain more fans of my jewelry in the Chicago area too. I'll be doing another show with them in July so if you're in the Chicago area....you may want to keep that in mind and your eyes peeled for announcements on my NotesNBling Facebook Page. www.facebook.com/NotesNBling.

Event: "Just For Fun" Vendor & Craft Sale by Steph Theis
Place: Eagles Club
730. 41st Ave. N
Town: St. Cloud, MN
This will be my third show with Steph and she does such a wonderful event! It's worth coming out because she has such a good variety of not just vendors but also crafters and handmade items. Plus she has drawings for some amazing prizes for the attending shoppers!! You don't want to miss this one!
Date: Saturday, March 21. (Music only this year) THIS DATE IS NOT CONFIRMED OFFCIALLY YET!
Time: 11-7 (time for whole event)
Sam Scales Music Time Slot: TBD - will be sometime after 4 pm
Event: Empty Bowls
Place: City Hope Church
413 Franklin Ave. NE
Town: St. Cloud, MN
We always have been part of this event, either with just music or both with music and jewelry. This year the conflict of date is with me being at the Eagles Club for the Vendor/Craft show, I won't be set up with my jewelry for this event, however I may be playing music, but I won't be there until after 3 pm and hope to get a time slot after 4 pm or so.... Stay tuned on my Music Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SamScalesMusic), or look back here when the date is close.
As of this writing (March2) I have not seen an announcement made yet on Place Of Hope's Facebook Page or website.... I'll keep you posted.
I'll be rolling out my spring collection slowly but surely! I'm excited about some design ideas I've been mulling over and the new supplies I've ordered. The beach glass and recycled glass beads are in, the new leathers are on their way today! YEY!!
Some items will be already at the March 7th show in Sartell, more will be along to Chicago/McHenry show middle March and then on the 21st at the Eagles Club I'll have more styles with beach glass and leather, so mark your calendars!
For now most will only be available at shows, or check out my Facebook page www.facebook.com/NotesNBling. Nothing on Etsy yet.
This past Sunday our message in church was "The One Who Can Control The Storm" and the scripture portion was Mark 4:35-41.
With so much happening in the world and some friends struggling with the issue of fear (and I'm not exempt from this either), I thought this be a good thing to share today. It's very very brief, but just some points to ponder on.
Have you heard the phrase "It's not what you know, it's WHO you know?
Sometimes that doesn't go in our favor does it? The other person got the promotion because of who they knew, even though you might have been a better candidate due to your knowledge and experience.
But sometimes it does. For example, I've always wanted to meet certain well known musicians in the Christian Music world and because of who I knew, I got to meet quite a few of them and some even became friends. That's pretty awesome. Now this was a desire of my heart, however in the scheme of things not really significant, but God granted it anyways.
So it is important who you know and in Christianity it is absolutely vital who you know! It works in our favor! We must know Jesus!
So in this text the main point is to get to know who Jesus is.
The disciples and Jesus got into a boat to go 'to the other side'. There was a storm. Plan was to get to the other side but there was stuff happening in the middle. Jesus is absolutely trustworthy because when He says something you can count on that it will be fulfilled no matter what happens in the middle. They did get to the other side.
Faith is trusting in God and His Word. He will see us through whatever we are going through.
Faith is not a blind leap in the dark and it's not cosmic string pulling.
Jesus is human. He fell asleep in the boat...in the midst of a storm. Why could He sleep in all that roar of waves and wind? Because Jesus as human could sleep because He was completely trusting in His Father. You know Lotti Moon made a statement: "I am immortal until my work is done".
Worry is a serious issue you need to take to Him to eradicate it!! God wants to help us to overcome worry. Worry says "I don't trust You". Worry says: "You don't care about me". Worry takes away joy and instead brings death to our soul (mind, will, emotions). This past year I've really worked on putting this into practice, to trust rather than to sit there and fret about everything!
Worry does not add one day to our life. Matthew 6:27 - Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Remember, Jesus as human CAN relate to us - but He still is GOD!
Jesus is Almighty God. John 1:1-3. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
Jesus created everything and not one thing that was created was made without Him creating it! Some may say that Jesus was the first created being, but you would have to exist first before anything can even be created. Jesus was already because nothing was created without being created by Him! Always go by the Bible and know truth as we read in John 1:1-3.
Jesus is in control of nature. He calmed the storm. Jesus is in control of the demonic realm. He rebuked the wind.
Fear looks at the storm. FAITH LOOKS AT JESUS.
Faith looks at the Savior! So keep looking to Him, study your Bible, read it, get it in you, let Him strengthen you through His Word, PRAY (which means conversation with God every day not some formula you pray through), get to know Him and then trust Him. Although answers may not look like what we expect, but they come and they are always good for us.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, where your help comes from!
Valentines Day is almost upon us and.....I'm just now getting around to my Music Notes! 😏 Guess I missed January, didn't I?
No worries though, you didn't miss too much. Mostly January and February months are dedicated to catch up on paperwork, mostly the dreaded tax prep. I'm almost seeing the end of the tunnel and will be so glad to be done with that and shift my full attention back to my creative side.

Here is a FISHING STORY:
So, end of January there's a very well known Fishing Tournament up in Brainerd. It's held at Gull Lake organized by the Brainerd Jaycees. In the past Warren had gone up to sell his delicious BBQ at a couple of these events, with one event ending with the loss of his tent due to high winds one year. Although he was still able to finish serving everyone, it was mighty cold and even starting to sleet.
So you can imagine the second time he decided to go up there to sell BBQ at that event (asking me to come along to help), my enthusiasm level wasn't exactly peaking on "high" on the excitement meter. However through someone the use of an ice house was donated to him during the event, so I had a warm place to stay and it wasn't too bad. In front of the ice house he pitched his cooking tent and people came to buy food, enjoying his BBQ.
This year after some consideration of possibly selling BBQ again at the Brainerd Fishing Tournament, Warren decided that this time he would just enjoy a time of fishing. He's never really got to seriously ice fish and so he wanted to give that a try. He bought himself some equipment and he was set.
A Kayaking Fishing Friend came along and so the two of them went up there together, picked their holes (mind you there are over 10,000 holes in that ice) and set out their rods and lures.
Within the first 20 minutes of the event Warren's lil ice fishing rod took a big nod towards the ice and boy....did he catch a big one!! 🎣 It took the both of them to get that fish through the 10" hole!
The fish was an eelpout (something I've never heard of) and weighted 8.29 lbs! It was the biggest fish caught that day, with the next being a Walleye weighing in at 3.5 lbs. He was pretty much shaking on the way to the weigh in with that fish! 🐠
So needless to say, that fish won first prize!!!
The first prize was a brand new 2020 Pickup Truck. He had the choice of two and choose the white GMC Sierra.
If you've seen Warren's old truck he had been driving (and snow plowing with) for years.... we call it the old faithful rust bucket... then you can understand Warren's excitement. He has had to hold the drivers door shut with bungees to keep it closed for a few months until he could find a used replacement door. The truck bed is rusted out as are the sides and the passenger door. We stuck a lot of money into it to keep it on the road. It would have been a few years to save up to buy a fairly decent one and most likely never a brand new one! You always see it happening to others, so it's quite a (good) shock when it actually happens to you.
Never ice fished, pulls out the biggest fish 🎣 and wins a truck!.... WOW! 😳
We have since learned that eelpouts usually are never in shallow water. So we believe it was all God's blessing and provision to send that fish to find Warren's lure attractive enough to give it a bite!
On Sunday, January 12 we were invited to come up to Rice Lake, WI for a church anniversary. Our Pastor Friends Gene & Pat Sedola and the Congregation of Calvary Fellowship were celebrating their one year Anniversary. Pastor Gene invited us to bring music and join in their celebration.
It was such an anointed and fun time! The coolest thing was, that Pastor Gene's message that evening was in the same chapter and just a couple verses before Joshua 3:14, which was a message our Home church pastor preached on that morning! How cool is that?! Both messages contained a theme: Faith. Stepping out in Faith. Trusting God.
Our drive up there was uneventful, however as we walked out of church to load up our equipment we found our vehicle covered with a light layer of snow. ❄️ It took a lot of prayer and intense driving back home as a snow front was blowing in and roads begun to get covered. Most of our journey we followed two different snowplow trucks, which made the roads a bit better, but our vision was greatly impaired with all the snow clouds drifting our way from the plow in front of us. Thankfully we had prayer cover over us and we made it home safely without any incidents....
A little update about the jewelry.... Although January and February are dedicated to paperwork as I mentioned up top, I still have customers and a few small events to prepare for. Plus, when I find really cool beads online and get them in the mail, I want to do something with them.
So down below are a few of my latest items for sale. The next Jewelry Selling event is again the Sartell Winter Market, which is the first Saturday of the month. This time will be very cool because Sartell will also have their Business Expo and we get to be part of that!
Below a few pictures of some of my designs. If you see something you like, contact me: NotesNBling@gmail.com. My Facebook page is: www.facebook.com/NotesNBling.
As life for us has had it's ups and downs, just as many of you are experiencing life, we are grateful for the "up" times to refresh and refocus and we are thankful to God for seeing us through the "down" times and grateful for His grace, His guidance, His presence and comfort. Sometimes it seems like He tarries, sometimes it seems like He doesn't hear or see and even if it seems He is distant, the truth is that He is always near as He never forsakes us. Sometimes I know for myself I can be hard of hearing, He may be speaking to me, but my ears are dull when my focus is on "life".
Oh how vital it is that we draw close to the One who cares for us and loves us.
Never give up hope, the answer may just be around the corner....unexpected and full of surprise. God always does more than what we deserve, not necessarily because of ourselves, but because of His great Name and the Name of his Son, Jesus Christ.
Y'all have a great rest of February and may your eyes and heart be poised to hear from Him in all of what is called living this life. Live it to the fullest.
This is SO incredibly freeing to be able to TYPE again without having to copy/paste to put words together or have to dictate something using the phone to type here what I want to share.
Anyhow, I have a new laptop!!!.....YEEEEYYY!!!
I decided to go with a different brand and new operating system, so I have LOTS to learn, but some features I totally love already.
The shopping season's craft & art shows are coming slowly to an end. I only have two more shows left for this season and a few custom orders to finish. Then I want to take a few days off between Christmas and New Year. It's much needed as both Warren and I have had events every single weekend since October.
This year it's been super busy with my business, so in a way I'm glad I didn't have a lot of music engagements. What's thrilling is that it's been a huge blessing because I was able to finally upgrade my laptop which I've been needing to do and wish I could have done so two years ago when my laptop started going downhill. Always glad I can limp things along but the keyboard going out....after three months of copy/paste.... that was a bit much. LOL.
The snow season has begun and hubby has been doing a lot of plowing during his time off. People are always glad to see him.
I'm still not too excited about the winter/snow season. Usually I love snow and I don't mind shoveling, but I tell ya, it's annoying when you have so much to do in the design studio that you just don't really have the time to shovel. However, the exercise is good and if one sits a lot, one must move, right?!
Since this is the busy selling season, I've been working a lot of hours making jewelry, creating some new designs and trying to keep stock up to have a lot of variety for people to choose from. However in between there are a few little music opportunities with my WOW Ladies group and the occasional other event.

Of course I will have all my lines of jewelry available for your browsing and shopping enjoyment.

There are also other crafters and artisans there who have honey, meat, breads, lotions, handbags and other crafted items as well.
The Sartell Winter Market in the New Year will continue to be only the FIRST SATURDAY of every month, January through April. Then the summer market will begin....
Thank you so much to all of you who are our friends, family, neighbors, customers and concert attendees! We are so grateful to all of you for your care for us, your prayers, your enthusiasm over the things we make, the music, or just being friends. It's awesome.
We have met so many new folks over this past year and some just have left imprints upon our hearts and we are grateful for new friendships and relationships! God always has a plan and sometimes that plan includes what I call "divine appointments".
Thank you again so much for your support! We love you all and we wish you a very Blessed Christ Centered Season and for the New Year God's grace, His wisdom, provision and healing to all.
Until Next Year,
Yours always..... Sam & Warren
Soooo since my laptop’s keyboard is still messed up and now my phone giving me issues with voice typing...(seeeriouuusslyyyy) ...this is going to be super short and sweet.
The patience needed for the one finger QWERTY type system on the phone is only going to last so long, haha. I have not mastered the two thumb thingy....
Anyhow. Just quickly letting you know about the upcoming events.
Music will be Nov. 9 at Hometown Harvest Market in Hudson, WI for their fundraiser craft and vendor show. Last year was such a blessed time.
Prayers appreciated for my voice as I had a cold and laringitis kinda settled in. So no practice happened this week. Ugh! Only one more week and I’ll be singing... hopefully and not ...squeaking!!!
Rest of events are shows for NotesNBling and Warren with his sauce too.
I would have had one more music event in December but they called me just a couple days ago and sadly I was already committed to a craft show.
Tomorrow hubby and I will be at the Winter Farmers Market inside the Sartell Community Building from 10-1. If you get this before then. Come see us! Tell your friends!
This time, due to the laptop/phone issues there's just is one jpg which has a everything listed for our events in the months of November and December! See below:
Hope to see you at one of these places. Remember when you shop from an artist, a crafter, small business you get unique items, often handcrafted and certainly made with great care and joy!
With my items in particular, some are truly unique, some one of a kind, to where that piece is yours to make a statement with.
Enjoy the shopping season, no stressing allowed! Soon it'll be snowing....that should get us in the mood! Haha.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving...

Psalm 100 Scripture
1 Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing.
3 Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
5 For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.
